American Christians Allow for the Possibility of Salvation in Other Faiths

Americans in general, American Christians, and even American evangelical Christians are increasingly open to the possibility that salvation may be found in other faiths.

The Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life recently conducted a survey of 35,000 Americans, asking responders whether or not they agree with the statement “many religions can lead to eternal life.” Surprisingly, large majorities of Americans concurred, including 57% of evangelical Christians, 89% of mainline Christians, and 79% of Roman Catholics.
